Evrosiyoning Janubiy qismida va Afrikaning shimolida bir oz tarqalgan. Sahro, o'rmon-dasht xududlari va tog ‘etaklarida yashaydi. Qanotining kengligi 180 - 215 sm va vasni 2,4 - 4,5 kg bo'lgan yirik qush. Inini daraxtlarga quradi. 1 - 3 tadan tuxum qo‘yadi. Polaponlarni oziqlantirishda ota-onasi ishtirok etadi. Dalasichqondan tortib tulkigacha bo‘lgan turli-tuman hayvonlar, mayda kemiruvchilar va sudralib yuruvchilar bilan oziqlanadi.Tabiatda 15 - 20 yil, tutqunlikda 55 yilgacha yashaydi. Qizil Kitobga kiritilgan.

Распространен на южной части Евразии и незначительно на севере Африки. Обитает в степной и лесостепной зонах и нижнем поясе гор. Крупная хищная птица с размахом крыльев 180 - 215 см и весом 2,4 - 4,5 кг. Гнезда устраивает на деревьях. В кладке 1 - 3 яйца. В выкармливании участвуют оба родителя. Кормится самой разнообразной животной пищей от полевки до лисиц, поедает птиц, пресмыкающихся. Продолжительность жизни в природе 15 - 20 лет, в неволе до 55 лет. Занесен в Красную книгу.

It is found in the southern parts of Eurasia and slightly in northern Africa. It inhabits steppe and forest - steppe zones as well as the lower mountain belts. This large bird of prey has a wingspan of 180 – 215 cm and weighs between 2.4 and 4.5 kg. It nests in trees, with a clutch of 1 – 3 eggs. Both parents take part in feeding the chicks. Its diet includes a wide variety of animal prey, ranging from voles to foxes, as well as birds and reptiles. Its lifespan is 15 – 20 years in the wild and up to 55 years in captivity. This species is listed in the Red Book.
