Yevroosiyoda keng tarqalgan. Daryolarni xush ko‘rmagani uchun ko‘l bo‘ylarida yashaydi. Daraxtlarda va inlarda uyalaydi. Monogam. 17 tagacha tuxum qo‘yishi mumkin. Ularni makiyoni bosib ochiradi. Xafv tug‘ilgan paytda makiyon bolalarini yelkasiga oladi. Urug‘lar, maysalar, hashoratlar, qisqichbaqalar, ba’zan o‘limtiklar bilan oziqlanadi. 20-25 yil yashaydi.

Распространен в Евразии. Селится на озерах, избегая рек. Гнездится на деревьях и в норах. Моногамны. В кладке может быть до 17 яиц. Насиживает самка. В случае опасности самка берет малышей на спину. Питается семенами, ростками, насекомыми, рачками, может поедать и падаль. Живет 20 - 25 лет.

It is widespread across Eurasia, settling mainly on lakes while avoiding rivers. It nests in tree cavities or burrows and is monogamous. Each clutch may contain up to 17 eggs, which are incubated by the female. In case of danger, the female carries her chicks on her back. Its diet includes seeds, shoots, insects, and small crustaceans, and it may also consume carrion. The lifespan is typically 20–25 years.
